    The Problem with Faith-based Communities

My husband recently started making videos discussing his ideas regarding intentional communities, which is a subject we’ve talked about for many years. We understand the need for community in real life at the local level in order to survive & thrive outside the control of powers-that-shouldn’t-be. But what should that community look like? This morning he recorded & posted a talk I did with him at his YouTube channel sharing what I see to be problematic with faith-based communities. This is part one of a series we entitled Faith- vs. Value-based Communities. Please check it out and let me know what you think:

Misfits Bible Study Session: Hebrews 7:1-11

This week’s discussion was on Hebrews 7:1-11… For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually. Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils. And verily they…

Tzitzit: To Wear or Not To Wear Fringes

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a ribband of blue: And it shall be unto you for a fringe, that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the LORD, and do them; and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a whoring: That ye may remember, and do all my commandments, and be holy unto your God. I am the LORD…

Misfits Bible Study Session: Hebrews 6:11-20, Part 2

This week’s discussion was on Hebrews 6:11-20: And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises. For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself, Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee. And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife. Wherein God,…

    WiggleCulture: A Homesteading Ministry

As many of you may already know, we have a homestead in Central Virginia, where we typically host our fall camp-outs each year. Up until this past year, my husband has been mostly going at it alone, working very hard to get the property where it is today.  Whereas, I’ve mostly stayed indoors running the household, helping with our business, schooling our children, and squeezing in my Bible studies wherever I can. Last year, however, I began to get more involved outside, spending time in our garden and managing our excess produce. And in the doing of those things, in conjunction with the many discussions I’ve had with my husband…

    Connecting With You Through Video

About a month ago, I took on a 30-day Ignite Video Challenge to get comfortable with doing short videos for the purpose of connecting with my audience. It was wonderful! I finished the course earlier this week and mustered up enough courage to go public. So, today marks Day 1 of my video-making journey at my Messyanic YouTube channel. And in this video I share why I’ve chosen to do video. Check it out… I plan on doing short weekly videos addressing a wide variety of topics, such as: Personal Stories and Experiences from the various paths I’ve taken Tips and Solutions for studying the Bible and other related resources…
